I´m a self tought knitter from the very north of Sweden. In the late 80`s I tought how to cut pattern at the swedish Academy of pattern cutting in Stockholm and later on I went to art school and studied art at Umeå university. Finally I ended up with a master degree in education in the beginning of 2000.
All knitted and sewn items that you can see on my web page I´ve done my self, both pattern and the item. I find my inspiration in swedish folk wear and work wear.
I often use a yarn called "svenskullgarn", swedish wool yarn. "Svenskullgarn" has no brand and is sold direcly from tha spinning mills. I prefer yarn from a spinning mill called Kampes. It is sold 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-plyed and in natural coulors such as white and diffent shades of grey. That´s why many of my knitted items are grey. But I also dye my yarn with plants or chemicals. My mohair yarn comes from a farm near a town called Lindesberg and is spun in England.
Lovikka is a small village in the very north of Sweden, near the finish border, known for a yarn that usually is used for knitting "lovikkavantar", lovikka mittens. It was first spun and knitted by Erika Aitamaa in 1892. It´s my favourite yarn and I have knitted sweaters, scarfs and other things that you can see on my webpage.
Vadmal is a fabric that was used for all clothes in Sweden, from the vikings to the beginning of 1900. It´s a wool fabric that is felted in a stamp mill, "vadmalsstamp" in swedish. Vadmal was always home wowen and it was often the miller who had the stamp mill. In the swedish mining district Bergslagen I have been involved in a project and restoring a stamp mill.
